Again, “I’ll meet you at your place, then we’ll go on from there.” A clear motif of the major presenters at the Democratic National Convention was appreciating the living values which are most important for each other’s lives, values which we share (implicitly, at least). Heartfulness was integral to the “convention,” as normative commitment (Con- vention-defined political conventionality): Our self-evident truths are fine as rhetoric only because those values belong to our lives, thus belong to prospects for good society, from which better government (demophilic meritocracy) may be more perfected, yet never completed because We are evolving (one hopes), thank goodness: a 3-fold heuristic of plural “good,” based in the factual difference between the good_ of actual lives, goodG of emergent sociality, and goodH of conceptual value. There can be no good neighborhoods without devoted persons (good_), no community without good neighborhoods, no healthy regions without good communities (goodG), no exemplary era without broad-based, multi-level engagement with being well for the sake of intergenerational bettering of Our humanity (goodH). Our children have no future without their owned fidelity to realistic prospets of flourishing good* life. next—> leadership by example: the appeal of exemplarity |
