Anger toward savage dictators is easy. Understanding how a savage dictator lives with himself is beyond me.

I can surmise notions of psychotic narcissism secured by total control of a net-
work of delusional profiteers, or whatever. But that’s an abstraction.

For example, Bashar al-Assad, dressed as a cool businessman at home in a palace, afforded by a vast black-market drug industry; and using torturous prisons com-
parable to Nazi concentration camps, depended on the military resources of a Russian Czar whose regime labels the death by street bomb of its evil general
(in charge of radiation, chemical, and biological weapons) as a terrorist act by Ukraine, though Putin’s agents bomb Ukrainian civilians and their winter access to electricity weekly in order to terrorize the people into submission.

Theologistic Iran has no foreign policy other than (or serving) annihilation
of Israel.

Xi’s Maoist regime destroys Uyghur life in order to have slave labor.

And autocratic license is either prevailing in South America or is a constant threat, as well as for southeastern Europe, even France, and now Germany (whose rightist AfD party scored second to the conservative Christian Democrats in the last elections).

Predatory animal hunger, in “human” (inhuman) form, for territory, luxury, and worship feeds on addictive grandeur and decimation of whatever would inhibit it.

Xi Jinping admires the Russian militancy which inspired Lenin, then Mao, and dreams of conquering everything in his reach, especially by seducing developing nations into levels of debt they can’t service, thereby giving China territory without military action.

A large proportion of national power is technologized tribalism led by warlords who want to enjoy control of empire and colonial power.

They probably believe that European avarice of the 19th century entitles them
to replication, due revenge, like developing nations may believe that the polluting West they suffer entitles their own era of enivoronmental ruin.

Accelerated industrialization of the past century and technological marvels con-
ceal how primitive much of humanity remains, driven by prehistoric avarice.

Living for the sake of better futures for distant generations is so abstract for so many persons.

But the comfort that so many of us enjoy is thanks to the persistence of ancestors who strived to make imagined heaven come to Earth, so commonly taken for granted by persons, so usually regarded as given.

Future generations will want to be as thankful to ancestry as we should be for earlier long-termism in thinking about the relays of generations.

Talk of “holy spirit,” talk of ability to orient life by divined horizons of future being in Time.

How well can good regional government belong with global scale collaborative leadership modeled by the United Nations?

How well can public health leadership belong with environmental leadership?

How well can climate leadership belong with sustainability initiatives?

How well can energy innovation belong with community development?

How well can excellence in higher education belong with actionable public policy in genuine politics?

How well can community-based development belong with stable family residence, flourishing neighborhoods, and excellent public schools?

How well can planned parenthood lead to lasting families with flourishing children smartly making good lives?

What makes True love, and how well can intimate belonging last?

And so on.
