As I noted on the “critical moment” main page, I want to discuss the Syria Event.
Watch this: “The conflict in Syria through the eyes of a young poet”
The humanitarian crisis in Syria brings tears to one Washington Post journalist on the ground at the border. Assad's crimes against humanity are horrifying: “Humanitarian aid groups prepare for long-term crisis in Syria.”
The U.S. is providing more aid to Syrian refugees than any other nation, but it’s far from enough, and it’s the world’s responsibility altogether.
Be sure that you vote for representatives who truly care about human rights to humanitarian care.
There is desperate need for global problem solving processes that aren’t tragically inhibited by proprietary interests—e.g., Russian interest in client relations with Syria and Iran; and global interest in a stable oil market that prevails over need for massive humanitarian care. Costs of addressing this regional problem globally conflict “successfully” with costs of national economic recoveries in “leading” nations.
This is historical tragedy of genocidal proportions.
